LA SAGRADA FAMILIA CHURCH

Designed by Antoni Gaudi, this is actually an unfinished church, the unusual and unique construction of which makes it quite appealing to tourists. You can view the exterior of the La Sagrada Familia free of cost but to see the interior, you have to buy tickets. The authorities are planning to complete the church’s construction in 2026 to mark the 100th anniversary of Antoni’s demise.

MAGIC FOUNTAIN SHOW

This fountain is bound to give you a magical feel with its magnificent water show, music and light. Built in 1929, it is still one of the most frequented places in Barcelona, drawing around 2.5 million visitors yearly. If you visit the place on Fridays and Saturdays in the winter season, you will be able to see the evening water and light shows. In the summer months, this show is available from Thursday to Sunday.

PICASSO MUSEUM

This is the most famous museum in Barcelona, which has some of the most unique and lesser known paintings of Picasso, who inhabited the city of Barcelona from 1895 to 1904. Located in splendid gothic mansions, the museum traces Picasso’s development as an artist.

BARRIO GOTICO

This is the medieval part of Barcelona growing around the ancient Roman town of Barcelo. Here you will come across a number of beautiful churches, museums, markets and plazas along with segments of the old Roman walls. The best way to visit this part of Barcelona is to travel on foot.

TIBIDABO HILL

This is one of the best places to visit with family and kids. The place offers fabulous views of Barcelona and also houses an amusement park that is open to tourists from March to September. However, the Skywalk that allows you to enjoy glimpses of Barcelona is open almost throughout the year.

Apart from visiting these places, you can also take a pleasant stroll along Las Ramblas Street discovering the human face of Barcelona. Or simply visit the Camp Nou Stadium (even if there is no match) and the Barça museum or go to the modernist Park Guell over Carmel Hill, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

MAJOR ATTRACTIONS AROUND BARCELONA

There are also a few attractions present close to Barcelona that can be covered in half a day or a single day. One of them is the Montserrat Mountains & Monastery which allows you to enjoy sweeping views and amazing rock formations, apart from experiencing the Black Virgin or Montserrat. Then you can move on to Girona, about an hour from Barcelona, where you can get a glimpse of the colorful houses hanging over the River Onyar.
