All You Need to Know About Your Skin

Woman with beautiful skin.

There are five main types of skin namely normal, dry, oily sensitive or combination.

• Healthy Skin – You must know that you are extremely blessed if you have normal skin. Normal skin boasts of a perfect balance and contains the right amount of lipids and water in it. Such a skin has very little or almost no imperfections and does not suffer from any kind of sensitivity. The pores are barely visible on it, and the woman who has normal skin has a radiant complexion!

• Dry Skin – Dry skin is prone to flaking, peeling, cracking or even becoming irritated, itchy and inflamed. A person suffering from dry skin has small or invisible pores, a rough and dry complexion, red patches of the skin, reduced elasticity and more visible lines. Dry skin is generally a result of changes in hormones or age, genetics, being exposed to extreme weather conditions and taking long showers with hot water. It can also be a result of excessive consumption of too many medicines.

• Oily Skin – Oily skin occurs when too much oil or lipids are secreted by the skin glands. It produces enlarged pores, blackheads, and spots and makes the complexion look dull or shiny. The degree of oiliness that you experience on your skin changes with the change in weather and climate. Moreover, oil skin worsens when the individual undergoes stress, too much exposure to heat or humidity or any type of hormonal change.

• Combination Skin – Women who suffer from combination skin experience both dry and oily skin at the same times. Their T-zone that comprises of the forehead, nose and chin area is seen to be oily while the rest of the face is dry. In such a scenario, one needs to use different types of skin care products on different areas. One can experience blackheads, shiny skin, and highly dilated pores.

• Sensitive Skin – The skin can become sensitive due to numerous reasons with the most common reason being the use of a particular skin care product that did not suit the skin. People who suffer from sensitive skin experience redness, burning, itching and dryness on a regular basis. The oil present in sensitive skin clogs the skin pores and allows skin bacteria to overgrow causing acne or similar skin issues.

When it comes to choosing skin care products, you really need to take your skin type into consideration and also understand what it truly means. If your skin comes under the normal, dry, oil, combination and sensitive categories, you can choose your products easily but if you suffer from other skin problems your issues, your skin type gets affected.

If you suffer from sun damaged skin, acne, fine lines, wrinkles or eczema then you need to be quite careful about choosing your skin products or you might end up causing more harm to the skin than good. Moreover, the weather, your stress levels, and environmental factors also play a vital role in your skin’s quality and type.

The reason you need to analyze these factors and choose your products accordingly is that different skin types and problems need different products with unique formulations. Also, if you are experiencing more than one skin issue such as acne with sun damage, blemishes on an oily skin or sensitive skin with wrinkles, then you need to be again careful about choosing the right product. There are external and internal elements that impact your skins look and give rise to certain issues and problems. Analyzing these factors help evaluate the skin issue or problem as it might happen that it is these very factors that are causing the problem and can be solved with due care and right use of products. Factors influencing the skin type and issues.

• Hormones
• Disorders in the skin
• Genes

The reason Orogold stresses so much on using natural ingredients is that many a times we do not realize that it is the harmful products we are using that create or worsen our skin problems. For example, if the product you are using to treat acne contains alcohol, menthol or peppermint in it, it will dry up the skin, irritate it and increase the acne instead of lessening it!

Thick-textured products or overly-emollients clog the skin pores, prevent skin cells from getting exfoliated and result in dull and tired looking skin. Scrubbing the skin too much damages the skin barrier thereby causing wrinkles. Avoid the following ingredients in your skin care products to stay safe.

• Alcohol
• Thick emollients
• Menthol
• Waxes that clog skin pores
• Artificial fragrances
• Abrasive scrubs
• Organic and synthetic irritants
